I did some online searching today using a week I need to use up by 8/06 and wanted to start some ongoing searches, but didn't see that as an option. Thanks, LizIP: Logged |

On the results page, if there are no availabilities, at the bottom one of the options is to start an ongoing search.Enter an Ongoing Search Begin a New Search Since I have not done an ongoing search since rci.com began, I clicked on it. Unfortunately that only starts an ongoing search for the search you just did, so I think I see your dilemma. I see no way to start one from scratch online. ------------------ TUGboat Captain Blank Blank Credentials: >15 years timesharing/>75 exchanges/multiple weeks/long-time independent TUG contributor/Branson-Table Rock Lake boat rides Areas of Knowledge and Interest: Timesharing:Buying/Selling/Renting/Donating/Exchanging/Searching/Resort Management/Newbies/Florida(>30years)/Kauai/SOCAL/Colorado/Missouri/Arkansas/ Iowa/Ohio/Florida Other:Finance/Law/Real Estate/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Priceline/Hotwire/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living [This message has been edited by JLB (edited 01-29-2005).] IP: Logged |

Liz,You should be able to start an ongoing search online. You can also do direct searches for alternative availability using an active ongoing search. If there is a unit holding, you won't be able to do any more direct searches until the unit is released. Where are you encountering problems? I wasn't quite clear from what's been said thus far. ------------------ ~ Madge IP: Logged |

Madge, it isn't currently needed as the VC I spoke with booked up a unit, but I had been looking on the page that showed availability and even at the bottom did not see the usual place I had remembered that one used to start an ongoing search. It just wasn't there. Thanks, LizIP: Logged |

Other than at the bottom of an unsuccessful search, where else can you start a search online? Here are the options: In order to navigate this page, please click on one of the following links: Deposit a Week Exchange a Week Search available Extra Vacations Exchange for a Cruise View Your Travel Plans (Held/Confirmed Weeks/Ongoing Searches) Complete Comment Cards View Your Vacation History Change your E-mail, Password or Personal Greeting Renew Your Membership Now - - - - - - It seems like folks here have said you have to call a Guide to start an ongoing search, and then you can modify it online.

Jim,This is not correct. You can pick up a deposited week, search for availability, and if none is found, you can initiate an ongoing search. The requested dates must be more than 30 days away.

So, what I said above is correct, that you can only start an ongoing search for an unsuccessful online search, right?------------------ TUGboat Captain 16 years timesharing/80 exchanges/Branson-Table Rock Lake boat rides Interests: Buying/Selling/Renting/Donating/Exchanging/Searching/Resort Management/Florida/Kauai/SOCAL/Colorado/Missouri/Arkansas/Iowa/Ohio/Florida Finance/Law/Real Estate/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Priceline/Hotwire/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living [This message has been edited by JLB (edited 01-31-2005).] IP: Logged |

OK, I think I see what my problem was. I was pulling resorts, just not any I wanted and I had done a general, not resort number search. So, if I had put in specific resorts and was unsuccessful, then I would have seen the option to start the ongoing search. Is this correct? Thanks, LizIP: Logged |

Just what I was thinking, and trying to pin down, that you may have to do a resort search rather than an area search. You would probably want to anyway.

Liz, You and Jim both stated this correctly.
