I'm usually pretty satisfied with RCI, but I had a few scares last week: in less than 10 days, 3 confirmed reservations (for Fall in England) were cancelled!

These were all points reservations, and when they were cancelled, RCI replaced them with a different week: different resort/different dates/different (more) costs in points. And didn't tell me!

Well, actually, I did get a call about the first week after a couple of days, but the other weeks I discovered only when I double checked my confirmed reservation to find they had mysteriously changed!

I was told the first week (narrowboats) was cancelled because of a change in water level (?). The other two were changed on me because sometime after I had confirmed my reservation, RCI discovered the resort didn't do move ins on the day listed on your system.

This was pretty scary; we could have had airplane reservations for the original dates. We ended up with passable, though not as good substitutes. I think RCI should at least be sure to call a customer ASAP when a reservation change is made.

It also makes me a bit worried about my "9000 account" (when I buy a weeks week with points). I can't see those reservations on line, so I can't confirm that they haven't been changed. Is there any plan to make those weeks visible via points?

Re: narrowboat and changed water levels. I don't know where you are travelling to but there is a problem with one of the Midland canals where part of an embankment has collapsed and a section of the canal has drained. This may be what they mean.

Weeks exchanges are not visible online when a Guide initiates them. However, the exchanges that you initiate online using the Points site will be visible to you when they are confirmed.

When something happens that is likely to materially affect your vacation (even something like an amenity becoming unavailable), RCI sends letters or contacts members by telephone right away. Immediate contact is especially important when the same resort or check-in day is not available.

Sometimes when the resort in question is in another country, the RCI office serving that location will cancel the exchange or make a change and then notify staff in the U.S. At that point, our staff here will contact the member; however, sometimes not before the member has become aware of the change in some other way.

I'm sorry about the panic this must have caused, and for the unfortunate timing. However, please be assured that when we are notified that something that will affect your vacation, we will absolutely contact you to help with your arrangements.
