Madge..

I was under the impression that HGVC members have a full RCI membership with all the benefits except online searches.

Another HGVC member said he called and HGVC/RCI told him that we don't have access to Extra Vacations. If this is true I find it a little disturbing. I think HGVC has to be one of the top if not the top timeshare in RCI.

In my regular RCI account I had booked a bonus vacation for my brother back in Nov. At the time The guest cert was free. The same HGVC owner had talked to RCI and they told him a guest cert for an extra vacation costs $49? Is this true?

Thanks
Dave

Dave,

This is a similar situation to the one that Bill commented on here involving Club Intrawest.

As an HGVC member, you have access to many benefits, including RCI exchange vacations. However, because of the special points-based membership you have with Hilton, you will not be able to access your account via rci.com. All transactions must go through HGVC staff at 800/932-4482.

Madge,

When you say "RCI exchange vacations". Do you mean extra vacation?

So from reading the other thread. HGVC members can call an HGVC/RCI rep, have the rep search for an extra vacation and if they want to send a guest the guest certificate is free?

Thanks
Dave

I called RCI and talked to Amy in the Canada call center. Amy said guest certificates are $49 and were free until January when they start charging for them.

I called HGVC and talked to Ryan in the St. John Canada call center. Ryan said HGVC members do NOT have access to RCI extra vacations. Ryan said Hilton reps do NOT have access to the RCI system. Ryan said he can access a "EXTREMELY Limited Inventory" of rentals that is based on Hilton set criteria. Ryan said they don't have much success on rental matches and therefore don't do alot. Ryan said he had no idea what Last Call was.

So use your point at HGVC resorts (3 destinations). Waste them on Hotel rooms. Limit yourself with Gold Crown only exchanges.

Dave,

I do not believe that Hilton benefits include Extra Vacations or Last Call, because these are programs specifically directed to RCI members. However, for more specific information about your HGVC benefits, please contact a Hilton Counselor.

sb1070,

This is not correct. RCI has offered free Guest Certificates for Extra Vacations confirmed online from the time the functionality was added to allow real-time searches for Extra Vacations. And these are still free. The confusion seems to stem from the fact that, until recently, members could only add Guest Certificates online to Extra Vacations. It was necessary for members to contact Guides by telephone to add Guest Certificates to standard exchanges.

The recent change is new functionality that allows members to add Guest Certificates online to standard exchanges. However, they are not free. The Guest Certificate fee still applies.
