The Ask Interval International forum was established as a means of posting questions to and getting direct answers from Craig Urbine, Vice President Member Services, Interval International. At the end of 2003 Craig announced the end of his participation in this forum. No replacement representative has been provided by Interval International, so this forum has been closed to further posts. For current discussion about II see the other forums on the board, especially Exchanging.

The information in existing posts is being left in place as much of it is valuable for future reference.

Craig,

When is Trendwest contract with II up? Do you foresee your company being able to maintain the affiliation or do you think they will flip back to RCI? I know that many of the Fairfield properties and Trendwest properties are with II. Cendant is probably one of your larger clients. kinda ironic.

Prior to the Cendant acquisition, they were very happy with our servicing and have not expressed any concerns. There must have been a reason why they were originally with RCI and switched to Interval International.

It will be interesting for owners to note the course of action they chose. In my own mind, I have no doubt the path they'll travel.

Craig, When Trendwest returns to RCI for its new owners, will II continue to honor the II memberships of current Worldmark owners?

When a developer operates a club, with corporate memberships, they usually are not able to remain with the previous exchange company.

Please note, I did not state they were switching back to RCI.

I am hoping that the answer I received at the 10/2002 owner's meeting in Washington I attended is correct. We will be dual affliated IF Wm decides to switch back to RCI. Just as we were dual affliated for previous owners BEFORE Cendent purchased TW.

Craig,

I am confused as to whether you think they will stay with you or not?

Am I right in that Fairfield has some business with you?

I am not willing to give my personal opinion. This may be a good question for Ask RCI.

Yes, we do have Fairfield resorts in our system.

Madge stated some time ago that Worldmark would be returning to RCI when the contract is up. She did not say anything about dual affiliation; that would, of course, be up to Trendwest/Worldmark to negotiate.

Pat,
I believe Madge wasn't stating it as a fact...but it would make sense. Remember, she is not part of the deciding management, she is PR.

Dual affliation is what we have now with both companies. When I asked the question at the owner meeting that indeed was what was suggested by WM President. If FF is dual affliated, why would you doubt Wm would be? You can actually trade with other exchange companies besides RCI and II.

Who knows WHAT will happen between now and October, 2004. It WILL be interesting.

Re: Craig saying: "When a developer operates a club, with corporate memberships, they usually are not allowed to remain with the previous exchange company."

I am a Worldmark owner who just added 2 more years of II thru 2007 and I ran across this thread. Craig, am I reading your post correctly that if Worldmark does return to RCI in 2004, that I may not be able to exchange my Worldmark weeks through II anymore? If that happened for some reason, could I get my money back from II? (I apologize if I am reading this wrong or jumping to conclusions,I don't know how these exchange companies work, and I don't understand what is meant by "corporate memberships"). Thanks

If you paid for your own membership, it can be cancelled with a refund on a prorated basis for any reason.
