Hopefully this message hasn't been addressed somewhere else on this board and i missed the answer...we have a bonus week and are hoping to use it in october or november to aruba. as of right now when you search interval's website to try and use the bonus week there are no listings in october and only one (as of yesterday at least) in November although there are lots of weeks available on the getaways for october and november in aruba. at what time does Interval dump some of the inventory from the getaways into the bonus week searchable database to use? hopefully this question makes sense.. thanks. cathy IP: Logged |

I don't know if you noticed from other posts that Craig is on vacation for several weeks and may not respond.I think there was a thread recently where he explained where inventory comes from that's available for AC (bonus) weeks, but I couldn't find it quickly. I'm not sure that your description of II "dumping inventory from getaways" into the AC availability is correct. In other words, just because something is available now as a getaway doesn't mean it will necessarily always end up in this AC inventory. For units available for exchange, though, you should be able to get anything within the flexchange period from regular exchange inventory (at least the AC I have now states that - but they're all different). Right now seraching with my AC, I see 3 different Aruba resorts with 4 different check-in dates in October, and also in November (though not all the same resorts). If you can't see these yet, then it may be that the power of your AC is not strong enough to pull them. IP: Logged |

i don't have a clue what determines the "power" of my bonus week certificate. we are a platinum Marriott Kauai Beach club owner (ocean front)and this is our bonus week we get for turning in our property in 2004...guess i'll wait for craig to get back from vacation and see if he responds. i really didn't know what populated the bonus week inventory but assumed it was overflow from getaways so that was strictly my assumption.. thanks for your reply. cathy IP: Logged |

CathyFundamentally, bonus weeks are at the bottom of the food chain when it comes to trading power. Depending on the criteria under which they were issued, they frequently increase in trading power 59 days before the check-in date. This may be the reason that you are not seeing much for October or November check-in. The past two times I inquired, II was not permitting any size up-grade from the size of the unit whose deposit had led to the generation of the bonus week certificate. fortunately for us we can travel on quick notice so assuming we can redeem Advantage Miles on American we could easily travel with 30-59 days of finding a property... i'll watch as it gets closer to october and november and see what opens up for me as inventory. thanks for the information.cathy IP: Logged |

All you need to do is redeem FF miles on short notice. Do you need to win the lottery first also? LOL. Seriously, you may be better off getting the flights then trying for the exchange. Maybe booking a backup hotel you can cancel if things don't go through. Good luck.

Today I see more than twice as much inventory in Aruba in October as I did yesterday with my AC. If you're still not seeing them, it could be that your resort has too high a quality rating (though I would think that it would be similar to my Whistler week, which was the underlying deposit).IP: Logged |

I'm moving this discussion to the Exchanging board, where it's more appropriate. Click here to go to the relocated thread.Ed [This message has been edited by EdB (edited 08-14-2003).] IP: Logged |
