3) There is a dedicated toll free line for Marriott owners. This line shouldn't be used for non Marriott transactions. The main difference is the Marriott advisers are trained for the nuances associated with Marriott special programs such as internal exchange.
4) In both cases, the weeks are held for a certain period before they are made available to the general membership base. Yes, there are other resort groups that have a similar arrangement ( I will not list them here).
5) If the factors are the same, the date they placed the request would be the tie breaker. Outside of the internal program, Marriott owners aren't given a special priority.
6) The overall trading power will dictate which trades are comparable. This can include unit size upgrades inside or outside of flexchange.

I stayed at Ocean Pointe, Palm Beach last week, and went to a sales presentation. I was told about some benefits of Marriott owners with II; I would like to clarify some of the statements on benefits. Your answers may help me decide about purchasing the unit, there.1. With Ocean Pointe, one usually gets a bonus week certificate with most units, during most weeks of the year.
If one owns a 2 br unit, and decides to lock off the unit into a 1 br unit, and a studio unit - would one get 0,1, or 2 bonus week certificates in this context - if the 2 subunits of the 2 br unit were deposited with II separately?
2. As a Marriott owner, one has access to a special II line/desk - reserved for Marriott owners?
I currently own 2 units at Westgate, Orlando. The Westgate Vacation Villas and Westgate Lakes each have an on-site II rep. In a previous response to my question, you indicated that the Westgate II reps can be considered as supervisors, with the associated roles and responsibilities.
Does this agent at the Marriott II desk, also have this responsibility/role?
3. I understand that once one is a Marriott owner, one automatically gets access to this special Marriott II desk, even for requested exchanges for one's non-Marriott property. Is there any advantage in requesting an exchange for a non-Marriott property through the Marriott desk agent, compared to the regular II agent (ie if the nonMarriott week was requested through the II's Marriott desk's agent, vs the regular II agent, would one more likely get a successful exchange, through the Marriott desk's II agent?)?
4. II is responsible for internal exchange requests for Marriott owners, as well as external exchange requests.
If the Marriott owner deposited his/her week with II for internal exchange vs external exchange - would the deposited week go into the same, or different II inventory - in these 2 situations.
I understand that once a Marriott week is deposited with II (for either internal or external exchange), the week is only open to Marriott owners for the first 21 days after deposit; if the week has not been taken by a Marriott owner by then, then the week is available to the II customer base, at large?
PS-Are there any other resorts or resort chains that deal with II, that have a similar 21 day policy, in terms of availability for the owners of that resort (chain), first.
5. If a certain Marriott unit and a comparable non-Marriott unit had been evaluated by II to have the same level of "quality" and "features" - would they have the same trading power, or would the Marriott unit, by virtue of Marriott Vacation Club International's special relationship with II, have the superior trading power?
6. The sales rep stated that one can often theoretically upgrade (in terms of number of bedrooms/unit size) when asking for a unit, in exchange for a Marriott unit.
Let me be specific in terms of my questions.
Let us say that I deposit a locked-off studio unit with II.
What are the answers to the following questions in terms of the following contexts - in terms of whether the exchange is internal or external, and in terms of whether the resort requested for exchange has studio units, vs it does not have an inventory of studio units.
The questions:
i) can one request an exchange (with upgrade) and be confirmed more than 60 days in advance of the requested week, OR
ii) can one request an exchange (with upgrade) and only be confirmed within the 60 day FLEXCHANGE period?
iii) is it possible that a Marriott owner with a studio unit deposited with II might more likely get a 1 br unit in exchange, than someone else who deposited a 1 br unit with II, if the Marriott studio unit is considered to have a much greater trading power than a 1 br non-Marriott unit? I am of course assuming that in both situations, the weeks are considered to be "red".
