Any of you catch the premiere? I think I'll wait a week or two for the lines to die down. (Although DD did talk me into going to the midnight premiere of the last Harry Potter movie.) I heard on the radio today that it is definitely more violent and graphic (hence the only one to be rated PG-13 according to the same source) and is not for young children. They said parents should take the time to discuss the choices Anikan makes--apparently he has to do some very terrible things in order to get the power of the dark side.

We all know he makes the choice to become Darth Vadar but it will be difficult to watch a hero slip to the depths of evil and I hate to see it end on that note. (Yes, we know he reforms in episode 6, but still . . . .)

DW & I saw it this afternoon, at matinee prices! There were only about 50 people in the audience.

Overall, I thought it was a good movie. Much better than the last two (1 & 2), almost as good as the original. The acting is wooden and dialog stilted, especially between Anakin and Padme; but this is normal for Lucas' films. I honestly don't think that the actor who plays Anakin can act his way out of a paper bag; and thought so after the last one (part 2) also. But the action is great, and they do a wonderful job explaining how Anakin becomes Darth Vader.

There were a number of 6-10 year olds in the audience with their parents. Of course, you have to know your kid; but if they don't get too frightened, it's probably OK. There's a scene between Anakin and Obi Wan towards the end that's somewhat violent, and takes place in a place that looks like fire & brimstone. That's probably the one scene you should be concerned about. But again, if you think your kid can handle something that dark, the rest should be fine.

Overall, two thumbs up.
