I really don't know who was best tonight. They both did really well. I think Bo is going to win, but by losing Carrie might be like Clay and really a "winner".That being said, I'm not sure which one I like best. There are three adults in our family; one wants Bo, one wants Carrie, and I'm in the middle. JMHO Nancy IP: Logged |

I agree that this is the closest competition since Clay and Rueben, however, I will still vote for Bo, since I will buy his CD but I'm not a huge country music fan so I won't buy Carrie's. They can both definitely sing, though and I think will both go far. Good finale.IP: Logged |

Well, I wasn't that impressed tonight...I expected more of each of them. The only song I really liked was Bo's rendition of the song they both sang (he sang it last, I think). But I wish there could be two winners this time around! ConnieIP: Logged |

Bo has been my favorite all along, although I do like Carrie too. It will be a close one and either one will deserve to win. With that being said, which ever one doesn't win American Idol, they will still win in the long run. The other one will get a record contract too. I just prefer to listen to Bo, I think he has a unique voice.IP: Logged |

In past years, haven't the finalists sung together, or will that be tonight, before the results? I want them to sing Kid Rock/Cheryl Crow's duet of "Picture" in the worst way. My kids want them to do Brad Paisley/Allison Krause's "Whiskey Lullaby." My National Lampoon side suggests "I'm a Little Bit Country/I'm a Little Bit Rock & Roll!" If Donny Osmond's in the audience tonight, look out!Bo had me a puddle on the floor when he did "in your heaven" or whatever it was called, and what's not to like about Carrie covering Martina, but I thought overall, their final performances were a little lacking. ------------------ we are all angels with one wing. I couldn't decide who to vote for. They are both very good so I put in one vote for each . IP: Logged |

Had a very difficult time getting a vote in. The lines were busy, busy, busy. Finally got a vote or three in for Bo--took over two hours. My daughter was busily voting for Carrie.IP: Logged |

I agree, the performances weren't great... but I also thought the band had a lot to do with it???I have liked Bo more and more over the last few weeks, and Carrie less and less - he has a great presense and good voice, she has a great voice, but a bland presense. She is beautiful, but not great to watch. I recorded the show, and was text messaging my votes for Bo whilst watching it. I decided to vote 12 times. Then, at the end, Simon said to Carrie that he thinks she has it in the bag. So I voted for Bo another 12 times. Was anyone else affected by this remark from Simon? IP: Logged |

seems to me like Simon liked Carrie from the get go and will probably sign her to his record label if she doesn't win. We preferred Bo. He is more a showman, exudes confidence and just makes you want to listen to him !! IP: Logged |

I think Simon got in his last plug for Carrie. He's held back these past few weeks. I predict Bo will win. I hope Carrie takes the country route only. I think she could become a major star. If she heads for pop, she doesn't have what it takes. I love the idea of duets tonight. The show will be an interminable two hours. Hope the other 10 are there too.------------------ Patri Running for school board Visit my website IP: Logged |

At this point I think they both will get big recording contracts and I will by BOTH of their CDs. THis has indeed been the best American Idol season so far and I am not sure they can top it next year. I personally am tired of it so I will probably skip next season.meanwhile - LOST season finale is on tonight so I guess it is tape AI and watch LOST until the last few mins when we see who wins ------------------ Beth IP: Logged |

Hi, I was also affected by Simon's comment, so it could have the reverse desired effect. I was watching the show around 11pm from my recording, so I was busy voting away for Bo, and I had stopped until that moment, but when he said that, I voted again. I must have voted an additional 20 times (I used two phones, so it was more like 10 one each, the lines were pretty clear by that time). I loved Carrie, but it is so much more fun to see Bo, he just has this awesome energy, and it is undescribeable(?). I love that kind of natural voice. Carrie, has an absolutely perfect voice, but it is a little too perfect for me. They will both make it far. In my opinion from all the previous American Idols, Bo is probably the only cd I would be motivated to buy, the other ones had great voices, but I was not attracted to their styles or their music. Well, I hope I don't get flamed (smile), but I just don't get it about Bo. To me, his voice is just okay. I know he's really popular with alot of folks, but I'm not crazy about his voice or presence on stage. I can see Carrie being the next AI without any problems. To me, she can sing anything and does it well. As has been said many time before, I think both of them will end up with contracts. I figure if Bo wins, I'll console myself with the thought that maybe it will be like when Reuben won and it seemed you saw and heard way more of Clay Aiken (to the point that some people thought Clay won after some time had passed). I wish they could come up with a way to only allow one vote per household. It seems one vote per household would make it more fair. Just my humble opinion. It will be interesting for sure! Cyndy,I totally agree with you about the one vote per phone or household, which insanely enough is the reason I voted so much more for Bo. I don't know if that makes any sense, but if it is not limited to one vote, then you cannot figure out, how many times fans, friends and families have voted for the other contestant, which makes you think that perhaps if you truly want your Idol to win, you should vote a lot as well. I also agree with you about Carrie, she is awesome and I have been a huge fan of hers since the beginning, but there is something about Bo, although I cannot explain it, that I like. I know he does not have the best voice, but I am somehow fascinated by him. There are many recording artists that cannot really sing, but people still enjoy them. Maybe is the type of music he sings. The only way I can decribe it, is the way I feel about Bruce Springsteen. I am a huge fan, I love all his music, but sometimes I don't like his voice, and you cannot even understand the words, but I absolutely love him. I think it is the way the song and voice makes you feel overall. There isn't any explanation, or ways of quantifying it, it is just the feeling. IP: Logged |

I think you're talking about the "IT" factor, sometimes called the X-factor. It's a certain magnetism or energy, or sheer presence, that makes somebody star material. Bo has a great voice, imo, sounds like the lead singer of Blood Sweat and Tears, a huge band a few decades back (dating myself). There have been many, many male recording artists who've got voices you either love or hate, guys who've become legends. Some who come immediately to mind...Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Leon Russell, Tom Waits...even Johnny Cash. Unique voices, with charisma to burn. Huge star power, but if Idol was around in their day, would any of those guys have won? ------------------ I met a lot of people in Europe.I even encountered myself. - James Baldwin, American novelist (1924-1987) IP: Logged |

Simon has been a strong supporter of Bo and Carrie from the very beginning. He has told Bo at least once, if not several times, from the beginning thru the present that the competition is his to lose. He has said similar remarks to Carrie.I am not a Bo fan. I was in the beginning and throughout much of the series. I do admit that he is very good. I don't like his voice. I got tired of his gimick with the microphone and stand. I do not believe he does well outside of rock and roll. I believe he has a huge edge over Carrie because of his long time experience in "entertainment." He is much more seasoned so to speak. I believe that the demographics of the show will give him the title. I am not a country or country western fan. I am a huge Roy Orbison fan. When Carrie sang "Crying", I was stunned. She really impressed me. All along, I thought that Carrie had a great voice but thought that Vonzell was better (Vonzell was my personal favorite). Carrie's inexperience was evident throughout the series. She has displayed an inability to move with grace on stage (I'm trying to say politely that she has no rythm). Given where she grew up, that is understandable. Of the two, I think Carrie won the competition. She has a better voice, much more potential, and is more capable of singing outside of country than Bo. I still like Vonzell's style better than these two. I think that the competition this year was much tougher than any of the previous years. Many of the past final 12 would not have made it this year in the final 12. I definitely believe that Simon does have an effect on voting. Judging by the some of the posts on this thread, the effect is not a positive effect. I think that Simon has been the best judge in terms of recognizing star quality. He does not waste his time in being tactful. He says it just like he would when listening to audition or audition tapes. We all recognize that this is all personal preference stuff. I firmly believe that Bo and Carrie have made their marks and will be successful. I think that others in the final 12 have also started their careers. ------------------ geo IP: Logged |

This is going to be a squeaker. It's nice to have such a close contest. Both are very good and I'm sure that the ink will be dry on contracts for both before the sun sets tomorrow so need to cry for either. Just the same...I'm hoping for a Bo win!!! As for Simon, although I mostly agree with him, he really turned me off to Carrie awhile back. I couldn't stand his obvious push of her. I don't think that you can discount just how much people can't stand this type of behavior. Sorta reminded me of how they kept trying to push Reuben on us. Of course...it worked out okay for Reuben ------------------ Danielle IP: Logged |

I'm hoping Carrie will be the winner, but agree with others that both of them will have their shot at fame and fortune. My question is, what on earth are they going to do for 2 hours, other than work in some more commercials, and Ryan Seacrest's blatherings? I also hope the other contestants will be there, too.------------------ Jean IP: Logged |

I agree. I mostly agree with his comments. But I too got tired of the Carrie push. Strange... IP: Logged |
