I hoped this was just a rumor, but now after almost 2 months, I still have cold symptoms, cough, congestion, plugged ear. I normally would think I was developing allergies but my husband had it first, and others in our area claim to have had this cold also. Anyone else have this?------------------ Grand Beach II, Florida IP: Logged |

I have it, I picked this nasty cold virus the first week of April and still have the cough, and congestion. Never had a cold like this before. Joel

I hope you're wrong with the timing, my wife and I are both into two weeks with no sign of our colds getting better. She was at the doctor yesterday, and confirmed it was just a cold. I'm not sure about me, but the congestion and zero sleep caused by the congestion is awful.IP: Logged |

Lack of sleep, lack of energy and just plain feeling gross being in public coughing and blowing my nose all the time. Wonka I hope you dont have this but these are the cures I've heard so far. My cousin had it the last 2 months of pregnancy and after delivery she was cured (wont try that one) my husband said he sweated it out working very hard on a very hot day (wont try that one) a friend said a hot tub and booze cured him, I'm not a drinker but its a thought.------------------ Grand Beach II, Florida IP: Logged |

If you have those syptoms for that long you need to see a doctor if you havent already. Colds typically do not last that long unless your immune system is compromised.IP: Logged |

Add me to the group. I had the full cold symptoms for almost a month. Thought I was getting better, but I still have a stuff nose and a cough that I just can't get rid of. And once I start coughing it is hard to stop. I am really tired of it! This has been going on for over 2 months now. I have a co-worker who has exactly the same thing. ------------------ Cindi IP: Logged |

A lot of people I know have this everlasting cold. I just picked up a virus last week. Cold symptoms, aches, sore throat, runny nose. Now today it is pink eye, which I have never had before. Total blood-shot eyes. Throat still sore, so it hurts to swallow. Ugh.IP: Logged |

This long lasting illness has hit us in CT as well- My Mom had it for 4.5 weeks w/many dr visits. Have 2 teens who have had it as well- just when they seem to be getting better- it gets worse- have had both to drs- one did get antibiotics- started feeling better then wham- cough, stuffy nose again. Schools have seen lots of students out. Most starts as sore throat-then just gets worse-just hangs on for weeks. Best advise- wash hands lots and longIP: Logged |

That is how mine started. I suddenly had a sore throat, that only lasted for about a day, and then the other symptoms hit. And I felt pretty rotten by the second day. quote: Originally posted by Wonka: Ours started with a sore throat, is that the way this started with others?

Of course, a few responses doesn't mean anything. But, it appears this virus (whatever) is occuring in quite a few areas. I wonder if it's much more widespread than our few responses on TUG. If so, shouldn't we be reading more about it? It seems kind to be kind of an unusual strain or something.IP: Logged |

I just got a call from one of my daughter's tutors who said that her daughter's school sent a note home warning about some cases of whooping cough at their school. If anyone is coughing a lot and "whooping," you might want to see a doctor.I found a website http://www.whoopingcough.net/symptoms.htm that lists the symptoms. Coincidentally, the article reads "I am told that in China it is called the 100 day cough."

This is a VERY interesting thread!I came down with an infection right before New Year's that just wouldn't quit. It seemed to be just a typical cold at first; then, I had a mild fever for about a week. I also got quite sick to my stomach once, but that was on a day that I had overdone the physical activity. (I was on vacation at Disney World when I got sick.) I was then completely tired for weeks; it was at least three months before I felt back to normal. I saw a doctor a few days after I first got sick, who said it was just a cold; I also saw a doctor a couple of months into the illness, who had no explanation of why I was still sick. On the other hand, I got a cold 8 days ago (also while at Disney World!) and it seems almost all gone now. So, the "regular" type of cold is presumably still around, too. I didn't cough much -- whooping cough is very serious; I don't think one would mistake it for a cold. IP: Logged |
