I am a little confused by the HGVC Elite ProgramWe just saw the book of 50 resorts while we were at HHV . we were told those resorts would work the same way as our current points for reservations. Today when calling to enquire from the HGVC 800 number we were told those 50 resorts represent the top 50 and reservations must be made through RCI to get one of the additional resorts. can anyone tell me outside of the Hilton Honors upgrade and the ability to book New York what other benefit being elite holds? Am I missing something - we are going to go over the 14000 point plateau with a new purchase very soon but cant justify spending the additional cash to buy directly from HGVC just to get the ability to book NY. Here's what you get with the Elite status:1. Hhonors Gold membership for life giving you free upgrades to best available unit in every Hilton owned property (including Executive/Towers) as well as free breakfast and health club privileges for your stay. 2. 10 % discount on all Open Season Cash rates 3. $10 discount on Club exchange fees when you book online (if you book Club Season or Open Season using points you will only pay $39 if you do it online) 4. Your exchange fee of $49 is waived if you book a week in the same type of unit and in the same season as what you purchased (This is already the case when you book in Home Season, now you can book upto 3 days before you check in with no fee, if you are going to your home resort in the same season etc..) 5. Access to the New York Hilton Club 6. Special Home Season priority in to select resorts under development. (Currently, you can request the Kalia Tower up to 12 months in advance the same way owners can during Home Season) 7. Designated Elite Club number and trained counselors IP: Logged |

I don't get it either. Hilton runs promotions all the time where 4 stays gets you Gold status for a year. 4 stays at a Hamptons Inn is much less costly then another 7,000 point HGVC purchase. I think it is a clever way to play to peoples egos.------------------ RDR HGVC/Las Vegas Hilton, Las Vegas, NV IP: Logged |

I haven't seen the promotion you mention, but according to the HHonors member guide in order to qualify for Gold VIP:You'll need 16 qualifying stays or 36 qualifying nights in a calendar year at HHonors hotels. OR You'll need to accumulate 60,000 Base points in a calendar year IP: Logged |

Yes, I got gold status with 4 stays through a promo last year (plus 50,000 HH points!), but it is only for 1 year. I think they should have given Diamond status forever with the Elite program - now that would have been enticing, to me anyway.Dawn IP: Logged |

I'm Diamond status with Hilton. Don't buy Elite counting on hotel upgrades and "best room in the house." It doesn't happen to often. Also, I don't think it gets you free breakfasts at all of the properties. IP: Logged |

I just purchased another 7000 points from Hilton so I can become 'Elite".. Having priced the hotels in Mid Town Manhatten, I think a 6 nite stay in the New York Hilton "Penthouse" - top 2 floors, made the decision a good one. Using Hilton Honor points, we stayed for 10 days at the Doubltree at Times Square, and the rooms with taxes were running $325 per nite. We got the full buffett breakfast every moring for 2 people ($25 per person)at "no charge" due to Gold status. We have had free brekfast at Hilton in London, San fran, NY, Torrey Pines (san diego, Las vegas. ------------------ http://www.belairpatrol.com West Los Angeles IP: Logged |

So you paid $30,000+- so you can get a free breakfast a few times a year?By the way, the breakfast at Torrey Pines is the best Hilton breakfast! IP: Logged |

Really? I am wondering why you didn't buy resale? IP: Logged |

I Did by resale from Hilton Resale department.. Being an original owner that bought from the developer, I was hooked up with a "resale devision" that got me a great deal. It cost me $2.00 a point for 7000 points, and since was the location I wanted and it was the only one available, I bought it.------------------ http://www.belairpatrol.com West Los Angeles IP: Logged |

We spent last night on HHonors at the Hilton in Burnby (near Vancouver, Canada). We asked for an upgrade and received a suite on the top floor. It was a very nice room and much better than the standard hotel room. They had breakfast and coffee in the room. We were quite pleased.------------------ Allen and Patti Iseri IP: Logged |
