I was wondering if everyone could help me here. This is something I never really got a complete understanding on and was hoping some people with experience can comment. My wife and some friends are going down to Cabo the week of October 9th thru October 17th. We booked a 2 bedroom and a studio. One of the couples just backed out today. So, given where we are, if I cancel I lose the $49 plus 25% of the points. On the other hand, hotels are pretty booked up there with the Meltdown, Sammy's birthday and peak fishing season. Would it make sense to rent it ? Can I do this with HGVC ? What would be a fair price ? What is my liability ? How are the specifics handled ? Thanks for everyone's help and feedback here. I am in the middle of purchasing 7,000 extra points from Joanne Peters and should be Elite soon. Big boy status is will be nice. IP: Logged |

Yes, you can rent it. You'll have to pay another $49.00 fee to get a guest cert with HGVC.I would advertise it until you get to the 16 day window and then you'll lose 50% of your points. Good luck Dave

When you are ready to advertise, make sure you get a comparable rate from the Fiesta Americana Grand in Los Cabos for the unit you are renting out.. this is a five star resort and I would imagine room rates are high (especially when you factor in the mexican taxes) We stayed here two years ago and loved it! Good luck.IP: Logged |

Have you asked Joanne, she should know better than the rest of us? Other than Marina, most of us don't read the fine print. IP: Logged |

I believe that 2004 was the first year *it* appeared in the Member Guide and some have had it brought to their attention IP: Logged |

I will never keep things straight as the rules are constantly in flux. Fairfield has no issues with renting out points exchanges. I have mostly Fairfield points, hence the confusion.IP: Logged |
