Thinking about booking a week next summer at the HHV. When checking the website for availability, it came back with rooms at both the HHV and the Kalia Tower. Are these both located in the same location? Having the choice, which would you choose? Which is newer, nicer, etc. Read the latest reviews on the review board. That was helpful in learning about HHV. Couldn't find anything on the Kalia Tower though. Any info would be appreciated.

Never stayed in the Kalia building but I found a salesperson to show me a "model" this June. The interior is nicer (newer) but slightly smaller. I personally like the Lagoon tower better as it's closer to the beach. Kalia tower requires a walk through the entire HHV property (both are inside the HHV property) to get to the beach. I guess I'm spoiled. As for which one. I'm sure you'll like both.

PS. It'll be a while before I'll stay in Kalia tower because it only have 1-bd units.

We have booked this Feb for HHV at the Lagoon tower and I too like you wondered about Kalia. I always like the idea of newer and more up to date, but didn't want a one bedroom.

You can find info and maps etc: www.hiltonhawiianvillage.com

You can see that the Lagoon tower is on the beach.

We go to the HHV at least two times a year and I always stay in the Lagoon Tower. It is located on the beach and has great rooms and very large lanai's. The Kailua Tower is the old hotel tower that had to be closed because of mold and is bascially a hotel tower turned into a HGVC. The Kailua Tower is right on a very busy street also The Lagoon Tower was always a condo designed tower too.

I have a question about our room at the Lagoon tower...it's designated Garden View....which isn't really a problem for me as long as the garden view overlooks a garden or a pool or the lagoon/marina vs a street or construction or service facility etc....so what is a garden view? I may write a nice note to the management requesting ocean view, but I know that is a premium room...I just don't want to look at a parking lot or some other sort of thing....

Having stayed at both, I like the Kalia Tower for studio units (hands down) or for 1 BR units. The HGVC portion is only the higher floors of the building so they is always some ocean or mountain view unit. The real beach is some walk from either location so I don't think that is really an issue. The Kalia tower is actually closer to the many restaurants and shopping. 2 BR units expecially OV (plus) and OF (premium) the Lagoon tower is the better choice. So it depends is an answer.

2 bds garden views rooms are on floors 3-8 except:

-one set that faces the "compound", that's 3-4 (x63)
-corner unit, not diamond head side, 3-23

So which unit do you suggest I ask for? Again a garden view is ok as long as we aren't overlooking something ugly

Though I may still write directly to management and ask for an upgrade since it is sort of an anniversary trip....Not sure how it will work out, but it never hurts to ask. I was pleasantly surprised in New Orleans once when I casually mentioned it was my birthday...there was a bottle of champagne, some pralines and a birthday card from managemnet....very nice touch....it was the Royal Sonesta on Bourbon street btw...received excellent treatment through the whole trip..

I like the diamond head side better. The marina side is too close to the condo next door. The diamond head side is noisier (live entertainment from the tappa tower) but this is Waikiki, not Kauai.

As for the upgrade, it can't hurt to ask. Good luck.
