Yes sb1070 has had negative experiences. But it appears that any advice provided or positive experience referenced as a counter example is often just adding fuel to an otherwise out of control fire.

I have experience this with other "hostile" timeshare owners before. They are mad. Yes, mad at the salesperson who sold the unrealistic expectation. Yes, mad at the staff who perhaps was having a bad day (staff are humans and make mistakes last time I checked). And Yes, mad at anyone on this board that does not get up and fume at HGVC like sb1070 feels others should.

So I too may be adding additional fuel to the fire by this comment, but I just had to share an experience with another "hostile" timeshare owner that I have personal experience with before.

As many of you know I also own many Fairfield points and I have had the exact experience that we are all having with sb1070, but with someone else regarding Fairfield. If you ask me they had a right to be more hostile at Fairfield as Fairfield is far more complicated and less consistent a product.

What happened.... I was verbally abused, told that my personal experiences were not to be believed or realiable, told I must work for Fairfield, and called a liar. You know, it all sounds familiar to me.

So I have gotten much more thicker skinned.

My advise to sb1070 is don't shoot the messenger. We are not trying to tell you that you did not have a bad experience. We are just trying to tell you that others have had better experiences, so perhaps you might also in the future.

All views expressed are just my own opinions of what experiences I personally have had. Others may have experiences that are different, and you know, that is unfortunate, but OK.

When life deals you lemons, make lemonade.

Sandy

P.S. My hostile Fairfield owner is no longer hostile. She loves Fairfield and actively participates in our Yahoo Fairfield group. I don't ever mention the word bomb incidents, as it is now in the past.

I don't see ownership as any different than renting a hotel room. There's no flexibility, everytime I want to change something it's a $49 fee. The CS reps are rude. I feel like I've spent $12000 for nothing.

With so many rules and policies in Hiltons favor, I can no longer see the benefit of owning.

I can't even sell because I paid $12000 and Hilton tells me I can't get more than $7000. I hate HGVC

ahhhh.. here is the real problem.

And I know you own 3500 points, the salespeople were still lying to you. You could sell that for about $4K, not $7K.

I feel for you.. I'd be really pissed if I lost a bundle like that. Many people on Tug did the same thing, you have to get over it and try to make the best of it.

I lost $$ in the stock market crash, do I hate my stock broker? No.. I didn't fully research what he was selling me.

Sandy you love making assumptions. If you remember I simply posted a few experiences I had with HGVC last year and immediately I was attacked and called a liar and told to sell.

I simply wanted to use this board for it's purpose, to share my experiences and when I did from out of nowhere all these assumptions came from people that I was looking to start a flame.

When someone posts a positive message regarding HGVC I have never attacked them and called them a liar. Interesting that so many find it impossible to believe Hilton has issues in many areas.

Hi Sandy,

You mentioned belonging to a Yahoo Fairfield Group in your last post. I was wondering if there is a group like this for HGVC. I would love to find such a group.

I have only been an owner since June 2004, and only stayed in Las Vegas, but I have had nothing but positive experiences thus far. Thanks for your insight.

HGVC is a much more straight forward product. I don't think there is a need for a Yahoo Group for HGVC. Fairfield on the other hand it a complex, often misunderstood, confusing mass of rules and conditions. It really needs a Yahoo Group all of its own.

You are always welcome to start a HGVC group.

HGVC shut down my web site (hgvcinfo.org). They called me and said if I did not remove all the info (club rules, pictures, floor plans) they would sue me. I didn't have much of a choice since I wasn't going to hire a lawyer for a website that was just for fun and not a business.

I also started a Yahoo Group about 2 years ago. Less than 50 members and very little posting. The name is hgvcinfo for those who are interested in joining.

I remember your site as interesting and helpful since I was just a new HGVC owner at the time I found it.

Thought it was kind of nasty of Hilton to threaten a law suit and I don't blame you for closing it. I don't understand HGVC's motivation in wanting to shut you down, but I guess so be it.

I will check out the yahoo group...Why are you allowed to keep that site up?

It's too bad that they did. I learned a lot about HGVC from your web site. I especially liked the floor plans.

Didn't even realize that you had started a Yahoo Group for HGVC. Perhaps we should join, and advertise the group here in postings.

Is it possible to post all those floorplans out on the Yahoo group? We do that we Fairfield? But FF is also a closed group that you have to approve people before they can join.

How would making the group closed stop HGVC from trying to sue me? None of the floor plans have copyright notices, but they have lots of money and I don't for hiring lawyers.

sb1070, I just like to say - I'm glad your posting - Smile!

You bring the spice to the few posts that I have seen you in and I thank you for that.

Personally, I'm not a HGVC owner but a SVO owner and before you ask- yes they have there prblem too.

I've seen a few of the HGVC resorts and they are very impressive properties. Someday, I hope to trade for one or two of then, but for now I'm really happy with my home resort.

We have Fairfield's blessing on the yahoo group, so I guess it does make a difference. I didn't realize they were objecting to the floorplans, I thought they were objecting to a website that appeared to be HGVC sponsored. Obviously yahoo groups do not look like they are HGVC sponsored.

Since they contacted you, I am sure you know what the nature of their objection was. I do not.
