I spoke to a supervisor regarding this fee. This is something new. If you are not ready to start a search with RCI, you can pay the fee to deposit your expiring points into RCI and start a search at a later date.

If you have 4,000 points remaining and you start a search with RCI for a 2 bedroom, then those points are protected. You do not have to pay the additional fee.
