I am mad....
Here is the story. I was able to book a 3 beddroom at the Landmark Holiday Beach resort for June 4th, 2005 using my HGVC points back in September. We were extremly excited, 6 nights on the beach in Panama City. We even received the confirmation letter in the mail with a confirmation number from the RCI community.

Then today HGVC calls and tells us our reservation is not valid. I think we received a total of four excuses.

Excuse 1. The first guy called and said he made a mistake and our reservation wasn't valid. He then tried to put us in a 2 bedroom in Pensacola. (he talked with my wife)

I called back and talked to a lady. Who gave me....

Excuse 2. The resort was damaged and they had to pull some units out of RCI trades. I argued said the resort has been open since October. So then she put me on hold and came back with ...

Excuse 3. RCI didn't deposit the unit into the RCI system correctly and was invalid. So then I asked to speak with a manager who called me back and told me....

Excuse 4. The Resort pulled the unit back and RCI can't reserve the unit anymore. The manager told me the only thing they can do is to continue to look for something.

So I proceded to try and call RCI who will not talk with me because I am a HGVC member.

So I called the resort and they tell me RCI *OWNS* their weeks and the resorts have no control how RCI uses their weeks.

Does anybody have any advice on how to handle this? Has this happen to anybody else, where you made reservations and they where done incorrectly?

I don't know what to do other than contact the BBB.
This can't be right. If this happens, I don't want be in HGVC.

Thanks
Jim

Jim, I don't know what to tell you regarding that specific property, but, I once had a pretty serious problem with an HGVC trade that I did through RCI.

I called HGVC and told them of the problem, they gave me an unlimited trade within RCI. I was able to get any size available unit in the RCI system.

Okay. I have a update.
HGVC has fixed it for us. They where able to get us a 2 bedroom and a 1 bedroom at Landmark Holiday Beach Resort instead of a three bedroom we originally booked. The two rooms will actually work better for us because my Sister-in-laws family is going also. So we can split up and have a little more space.
It is also the week of June 11, we originally booked the week of June 4th.

Needless to say we are *very* happy with the way they resolved this. I still don't understand how our reservation disappeared. But apparently it can happen.

So once again, I am a Happy Camper with HGVC. Probably even more so now than before.

Actually, stories about RCI exchanges *disappearing* due to weeks being pulled back occur with some regularility, though not often -- just keep reading the Exchanging Board as other TUGgers have had similar experiences. I'm glad to hear that you were able to have this resolved to your satisfaction.
