From the mystarcentral/reservations/faq section:

Q: Are StarOptions values changing in 2005?

A: Yes. In an effort to facilitate exchanges within the Starwood Vacation Network, some StarOptions values at selected resorts will increase in 2005. These new values are currently available on the StarCentral website.

Top of Page | Find Other FAQs

Q: Where can I find 2005 StarOptions values on StarCentral?

A: StarOptions values for 2005 are available on StarCentral in the following areas of the website:

Select Your Information and What I Own to view the 2005 StarOptions value of your week.

Select Reservations and Use StarOptions to Vacation to view 2005 StarOptions charts.

Select Using Your Ownership and User Guide to view 2005 StarOptions charts.

Does anyone know what the changes are??? It looks like my staroptions (harborside) have not changed. Not sure what's going on here...

Arlene --

If I remember right, most of the changes dealt with the StarOptions needed for individual days at most resorts.

I think the amount of Star Options needed at some of the resorts during non-peak travel periods also changed.

I may be incorrect, but I think this is at least part of the changes.

Ony a few resorts and a few seasons changed. My Gold Kierland, for example, changed from 79,900 to 81,000. I think they realized that this provided more equitible exchanges.

Old values are here http://www.starwoodvo.com/svoinfo/daily_staroptionChart.html

New values are here http://www.starwoodvo.com/ownership/staroptionChart.jsp

Seenett,

More equitable for who? Considering Westin St. John is one of the most sought after trades, the star options are way too low. IMHO most of the trades available to me are not equitable at all. I can rent a one bedroom at most of the other resorts for the cost of my maintenance fee. The truth be told, I waste $99 each year by being forced to be part of SVN.

I mean no disrespect to Starwood owners. Believe me when I say I think all Starwood properties are very nice. However, as I have stated before on TUG, Starwood owners are not gaining anything buy having units which have excessive star options attached to them, if the units many are seeking, are undervalued.

The current system allows owners of one bedroom units to trade into some three bedrooms at the Westin St. John. I own week 16 which is a totally sold out week at Westin St. John each year. The rental value alone would make it foolish for me to ever trade it back into the Star option system.

Again, I am only saying this because I feel it is unfair to Starwood owners who may have a different understanding of the value of the Star options.

I don't think everyone will be 100% satisfied with StarOptions. In this case, Starwood changed 2 bedroom gold owners' options from 79,900 to 81,000. It's not enough to start a surge of demand for the premium resorts, but it is enough for the 2 bedroom gold owner to get a large one bedroom in platinum season at their home resort. Previously, this could not happen.
