Just wanted everyone to know this IS possible. I know, because I've just received a refund on my RCI subscription years that I received from my SA purchases in the past. You do not go through a SA broker, like I originally thought. You must notify RCI US and RCI SA and let them know you would like to receive a refund on your subscription years. RCI US can tell if you've purchased these years through RCI SA or not. Once these companies notified each other, the refund process took only two business days. I received the refund from RCI SA, not RCI US, which is probably why it didn't take long. They simply credited the amount onto my credit card. I would say the whole process took about two weeks from start to finish. Of course, RCI US was the one who took the longest to get things moving. RCI US didn't seem to know what they were talking about. As usual, RCI SA were extremely knowledgeable about the whole process. Tidbit Info: Don't let RCI US say you can't receive a refund until all of your confirmed exchanges and/or spacebanked week(s) have been used up. This is false. We have a confimed exchange and a spacebanked week that will expire this year. My RCI membership now expires on 12/2006. It was 12/2026. Kudos to RCI SA for a job well done!!! ------------------ *~Trish~* Check out my Journals at RCI Community. Just insert smileygirl into the Username field. Thanks for looking!

A while back I read a fellow TUGGER's post that said only the resale company would get the refunded membership fees. Did you buy from a reseller or privately? I hope this is true and not just RCI giving one person a lucky break.I would be interested in knowing how they calculated your refund.IP: Logged |

I bought my SA weeks from a SA broker. RCI SA told me they process these kind of refunds all of the time. So, everyone can receive a refund on their SA subscription years. Before I was issued a refund, RCI SA told me exactly how much my refund would be. I was happy with the amount and proceeded with it. I did this because I'm not happy with the direction RCI is going in. Instead of griping about RCI and being unhappy all of the time, I took it upon myself to do something about it. I'm VERY relieved that I'm not "stuck" with them anymore. ------------------ *~Trish~* Check out my Journals at RCI Community. Just insert smileygirl into the Username field. Thanks for looking! Trish... Thanks for the post. I too am fed up with RCI's focus on profit and ever increasing fees. But what is the alternative? RCI has a strangle hold on SA. So what to do, sell all my timeshares and buy at a resort affiliated with II. Even if I purchase a cheap Florida unit on Ebay for $500, I am still stuck paying maintainence fees of $600+ per week. That's exactly what I'm doing. I use to own four SA weeks. Now I'm down to one, which I'm selling. I now own three timeshares (not including the SA one). Two timeshares are affiliated with RCI ONLY. These are the ones we usually use for ourselves. Should we want to do an exchange, I will go through alternate exchange companies, like DAE and SFX. The other timeshare is dual affiliated, which will be traded through II. I'm hoping we'll visit this resort in the future sometime.
I have weighed out my options and this works for me. This may not work for someone else, though. As you can see, I'm determined to get out of RCI.

You can transfer (sell) part, or all, of your remaining membership to ANY RCI member. Madge has addressed this on the Ask RCI forum. Phil IP: Logged |
