I just received a letter dated March 10, 2005 from the management at La Lucia Sands warning about the conditions that apply to levy discounts and related matters. Attached is a letter dated August 22, 2002 accusing recipients of using their share blocks as part of a holiday club, and basically saying this is illegal, etc.

Did any other La Lucia Sands owners get this letter? I am up to date with all levy payments -- ahead of schedule in fact since I like to pre-pay and make better exchanges. I wonder what this is all about. I've sent an email to La Lucia Sands and the attorney who wrote the attachment. I'll let you know what they say, but in the meantime please share any any you might have.

I don't think it is anything you really have to be concerned about. The part about the discounts was just a warning to folks (unlike you and me) who want to obtain the discount for early payment when their payments are made after the discount date has passed.

The part about the holiday club is apparently a long running legal battle over the use of weeks that have been turned into a particular points based club. I have owned at La Lucia Sands for a number of years now and all this is not anything new, but it has not had any impact on my weeks or their tradability.

If you want some background on why you should be concerned about activity of the SA points clubs at your resort, read the South Africa board at www.crimeshare.org/77.html
