Anyone have any experience selling a timeshare to the people at www.webuytimeshare.com? (They pay cash for low-cost weeks and resell them on E-Bay, their website, and maybe other places too.)

I am currently helping a client sell a week to them. It is a Westgate Orlando week 9 2 Br. that will be sold for $1600. The transaction is smooth so far and I will report back the final
outcome good or bad.

The Freids run webuytimeshares.com.. They & others like myself will offer you wholesale prices for your timeshares. All we do is resell them to others, hopefully at a higher price. Nothing that you can't do for yourself. You should ask around for a realistic resale value on the property you own.....and do it yourself. If you don't want to be bothered, give it to a reseller and let them sell it. Most of us make several hundred $$$ on a typical transaction.
A good way to find out what the wholesale value of your timeshare might be to put it on ebay with a $1.00 starting and a very high reserve. When the bidding ends, you will have a good idea of your timeshares value.

Checked out webuytimeshare.com web site, and e-mailed them with some questions. Everything sounds OK, but I still have one thing that bothers me. After they recieve the deed from me, what guarantee do I have that they will ever send me the check for the agreed on price for the timeshare? (They will have the deed, and I could end up with zilch.)

If you have any concerns, check out their positive feedback on EBAY. Over 100 happy customers including myself.

I took your suggestion, went to Ebay, registered, and found that I have to know their User Name on Ebay in order to get positive feedback on them. Having never used Ebay before, I have no idea how or where to go to get their User Name. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Packy -

You can do almost any type of search for timeshare sales on eBay, using the site's search feature. Doing so, a number of timeshare auctions will come up along with the usual assortment of other stuff, unless you put in a dollar minimum - such as $500. At a specific auction site, just click on the number next to the seller's name (140 for the Frieds) and the rating details will come up. One sample auction is here.

Wow! That was easy. I clicked on your sample auction and found everything I needed. Your directions were so simple to follow--it was great and I learned alot about Ebay's timeshare auctions. Many Thanks for your help!!

I'm also a happy customer of the Frieds ... we purchased a Steamboat unit from them on E-Bay last November. Everything was done as promised, when promised. I believe the whole deal took less than 2 weeks to complete (unlike my unhappy experience with Harold at RealShare Int'l -- see So. Africa board!)

All the positive feedback on the Frieds is from those who have purchased a timeshare from them. As I am considering selling my timeshare to them, I would still like to get some feedback (positive or negative)from someone who has sold their timeshare to them. Thanks.

I have just completed my first timeshare sales to Yuri Fried at
webuytimeshare.com and am posting as promised. I sold three client weeks to them and everything was done in a totally professional and courteous manner and just as Yuri had promised.
I recommend them without reservation and will be helping other
clients with unwanted timeshares sell through them.

I requested a quote from this site for a Marriott Summit Watch 2/2 Lockoff unit and they quoted $800. This week is a red float week at a 5 star Marriott resort. They indicate they make a slight profit to stay in business. If anyone needs to sell a similar unit call me first!!! I will buy it for $800 all year long.

I'm sorry, but it's not totally clear. You were asking them how much they would pay for that week and that's the offer you got?

I guess it's a useful service for folks who just don't want their timeshare any more, don't want to pay MF and don't want to take the time or effort to sell it themselves. Probably doesn't describe too many people who hang around this website!!

Has anybody had trouble getting back e-mail or the quote from the organization? I sent them a message about 6 days ago and haven't heard anything since.

Larry,

I requested a quote from them last Fri. 3/16/01. As I was having trouble with my computer on Fri., I sent an email to them today asking that they verify receiving my request for a quote. I received an email back saying that they are days behind on their quotes, and are trying to catch up. Said that they expect to get to them soon.

Regarding sending the deed to reseller: I'm not a lawyer, but the deed is merely a piece of paper indicating, when properly completed, that the transaction has been recorded in the proper court. The reseller's need for the deed is probably to make sure they are advertising for sale what it is that you really claim to own. It's not like signing the titale to your car and handing it over to someone.

Jim--

Thanks for info.--I always thought the deed was proof of ownership.

You're correct that you're not a lawyer. A deed is EXACTLY like the title to a car ... it is the only valid evidence of title in 99.99999% of the cases regardless of when or whether it is ever recorded in a "court" [actually, in most states deeds are recorded in the County Recorder's Office, not the Clerk of Court's office].

Suppose I "sold" my property to Mr. A on 1/1/2000 and the deed was recorded on 1/2/2003 and I "sold" the same property to Mr. B on 1/1/2001 and the deed was recorded on 1/2/2002.

Depending on state law, either Mr. A OR Mr. B would be the "true" owner of the property -- some states say the person whose deed is earliest is the "true" owner; other states say the person who gets to the Recorder's Office first is the "true" owner.

Of course the "loser" could sue me, but if he really wanted the property, the lawsuit wouldn't do him much good [he might get $$ but they probably wouldn't get the property].

The best way to protect oneself in this case is either to use a title company or a lawyer as the "escrow" holder.

By the way, I AM a lawyer [admitted 1975 in Colorado & 1977 in California; practice in No.Cal.]... However, standard disclaimer applies: this is general advice and may not apply to your sistuation, as your facts and circumstances may be different. Consult your own legal counsel.

Larry,

Did you ever receive a quote for your timeshare from webuytimeshares.com? (I still haven't gotten a quote and I requested it last Friday--seems like I should have gotten one by now.)

Packy, I submitted one inquiry and received a quote. I submitted 2 others and haven't heard on those. Maybe that's right when they got really busy, and/or maybe 1 was more interesting to them than the other 2.

Laurie,

Same thing happened to me. Got first quote back the same day. Requested a quote on another resort last Friday and have heard nothing back. Maybe, they just don't like my second resort, so they aren't going to quote on it. If I don't hear something by Monday noon, I am going to call them, because they gave me a pretty decent quote on the first timeshare.

Tried several times to reach the Fried's by phone this morning. Finally, I just left a message for them to call me. So far I have received no call from them.

Anybody been able to get them to answer e-mails or phone calls?
