gophish, If I gave the impression that RCI was not dedicating any funding to the Weeks site, I apologize. That is just not the case. RCI did not have any funds budgeted in 2004 for Points web initiatives; however, it is a new year, and the Points site will also receive some needed attention.

Sandy,I believe I've mentioned that this is coming, along with major web changes later this year. It's a valid point. ------------------ ~ Madge IP: Logged |

Judy, I'll check to see how many times this is set to display. This does sound excessive.

Bruce, I am not an expert, but I'll pass this on to our technical staff to see if it is something they could use. It may just have been a server issue - we have had a number of those.

Bruce, This message is connected to the Weeks search problem. It was a confusing message, which is why we made a notation on the search page. However, our aim is to correct the underlying problem.

Madge-Thanks for getting back on this. You said: "Most of the Weeks site problems, and some of the Points site problems, are related to load and server problems. This is our busiest time of year." Based on your statement I tried acessing the site around 2AM EST and was indeed able to search. But it was hard getting up for work. This is my 3rd January using the RCI site and admittedly this seems to be the busiest time of year. It also seems that the problem has become worse each year. Perhaps due to increasing use as more customers gravitate toward Internet usage as compared to phone. If a lot of the problem is load related, which would seem logical, what is RCI doing to upgrade/resize servers to handle the increasing load? At least if it were sized properly to handle the load capacity that happens the first part of the year, then perhaps the other programing problems would not be as irritating. I would imagine that RCI wants to encourage Internet self booking as a less costly service alternative, so making it more user friendly by taking care of the capacity problem would do so. Whilst I sympathise with Madge and do adopt the "Don't Shoot the Messenger" approach, I find the excuse of server load and busiest time of the year as lame at best.I am making the assumption that this is always the busiest time of year - that it isn't as sudden change in user habits. RCI must be aware of volumes in previous years and of any promo work that was likely to make the situation even worse this year. The RCI web site has been poor for as long as I have been a member and little effective seems to have been done to address the problems. I work for a major bank, can you imagine the reaction if all the ATMs had gone down over Christmas and New Year and the bank had basically said "It's not our fault, it's the busiest time of year". It really is time for RCI to get its act together on this one. ------------------ Regards Keith IP: Logged |

It is now 1:21 am EST and I cannot get onto the site. I tried several times today, at all hours, with no luck at all. The RCI web site is nothing but dreadful!!! and a disgrace for a company that assures it's customers that it is dedicated to customer service!!------------------ Happy TUGGER since 1997 IP: Logged |

I am so happy I have all my arrangements booked through Jan 2006. I hadn't look at the website for weeks as it was getting too frustrating. I tried for the first time today and couldn't search for points or weeks. Lynn IP: Logged |

Keitht,This is a valid point. We do know that there is a pattern of heavy use in the first three months of the year. We have been dealing with server issues for quite some time, and the added volume is simply making a challenging time even more difficult. Discussions about how to resolve the server situation are well underway. I'll be sure that the feedback Tuggers are providing in this thread is passed along.

I'm unable to log on today, tried a couple times. It says something like "weeks usage overextended", that's not it , but I think that's what it means. Am I right in guessing that means more users than available space? If so, what plans are being made to fix the problem. Thanks, LizIP: Logged |

Liz,My guess would be that the message you saw relates to traffic problems with our site. As I mentioned to Keitht above, we are working to resolve the server issues we've been having. This should also alleviate some of the load problems. Although we're likely to continue to see some problems from heavy traffic over the next couple of months. ------------------ ~ Madge IP: Logged |

I could not get on RCI last night because of too many users, today I come home from work and the same message. RCI prices keep going up but seems the service keeps getting worse.GK IP: Logged |

Hi Judy,This ad is set to show a particular person one impression per hour. It is actually called a pop-"under", meaning it pops under existing windows. If you bring up multiple sessions, you may be seeing it once per hour with each session.

I did not bring up multiple sessions. I was exploring the Resort Directory. Every time I viewed a new resort, another copy of the pop-up appeared. My whole session was much shorter than one hour. In any case, the problem seems to have been fixed. Today I did the same thing and this time only one copy of the pop-up appeared. Thank you for checking.[This message has been edited by Judy (edited 01-31-2005).] IP: Logged |
