Madge-

First of all Happy New Year.

Just checking with you to see what progress is being made with the online RCI system. I continue to get various different error messages. It is frustrating since I have things I would like to get booked and can't do it with the system not working. RCI has got to be losing money due to our inability to use the system. Any idea when it will be fixed??

Some of the error messages I keep getting:

Error 500--Internal Server Error
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:10.5.1 500 Internal Server Error

OR

You may experience a "currency mismatch" problem when attempting a Weeks transaction. Since the problem is intermittent, please clear your cache files and try again. If the problem continues, please call a Guide at 877/968-7476 to assist you with your Weeks transaction.

OR

Server Not Available

OR

Last night I got a message stating that our account was expired.

Madge,

Also, it seems (at least for me) that the web site connection to the resorts data base is not working again. I am not getting the resort names on my banked weeks, info on resorts missing when you get match on searches and specific resort searches do not work again and with each search you get invalid resort id.
This seems to happen periodically and I for one can't understand why the RCI IT team can't keep this working. Once you have fixed the problem it shouldn't keep coming back again unless someone messes something up.
The last time we had this problem, you had commented that they were putting all their resources into changes for the points system and that you wern't sure when this would get fixed.
I hope that this is not the case this time as that would be a very unfair situation for us, your weeks customers. We also pay our dues and should be able to expect a system that works correctly. Also, as a Fairfield customer I am given RCI weeks as my exchange company (I don't have a choice) and with Fairfield also being a Cendant company I would think that we would be treated better than this.
Thanks for any light you could shed on this or any assistance you can give.
Ken H.

Hello and Happy New Year Madge.

I am also getting some of the above error messages. Plus, when I push the "back" button, the "page cannot be found" message usualy appears. I have to start all over.

By the way, has any progress been made on the dates limitation? On the weeks pages, I still have to sift through exchange options from today until the year 2054!! Not so on the RCI points page, where the options are limited to only the two years you can search.

Thanks.

Hi Madge,

The points system is also giving inconsistent results. One search will pull up 4 resorts, and when repeated a few minutes later gives zero results. Wait a bit and run the same search, and bingo, the same original 4 resorts appear.

After I got suspicious about the way the system was working, I was actually able to duplicate this error several times, and with several different searches - Mexico and the Bahamas for March of 06.

Madge,

Is anybody working on this or are they just considering this user errors? Seems may different people are having problems. Do you need any testing/help from "real" users?

I've always thought the RCI site was unacceptably slow, but now it's bordering on unuseable. I only occasionally can access my account. Most of the time, I receive errors. As an aside, I'm also experiencing problems with the Armed Forces Vacation Club site which is an offspring (of sorts) of RCI.

Someone please help! I'm a lost soul!

Nancy most of the RCI Guides I have talked to have said they are getting tons of calls on these on going website problems.

They admitt there are problems that seem to come and go but in the last month the sites problems have seemly intensified.

This is a very frustrating situation for both the timesharers and RCI employees.

Yesterday I got over a dozen copies of the new "Call a VC" pop-up within 5 minutes. The site was already way too slow and frustrating. This is too much.

We got this message several differant days while trying to log on to our RCI Points account.

Do you know what is causing this message?

I am having the same problems with RCI weeks. It's very frustrating. How can RCI keep raising all of the fees, but can't give us a web site that can accommodate its users?

The explaination that we got again just a couple of minutes ago pops up quite a lot on the RCI Points site not just "intermittent" as stated on the site.

What is RCI's defination of a "currency mismatch" that pops up and what causes it?

Bruce

You may experience a "currency mismatch" problem when attempting a Weeks transaction. Since the problem is intermittent, please clear your cache files and try again. If the problem continues, please call a Guide at 877/968-7476 to assist you with your Weeks transaction.

What about the RCI website design causes this ongoing problem?

Could it be that they have to many things like ad pop ups on the site that helps to overload the site?

Bruce

Due to internal error, the system is unavailable.

For internal use only: Exception in loginWeeksSystem::WeeksAdapter Too Many Users

I have better luck and get fewer error messages online with RCI when I use Internet Explorer rather than Mozilla Firefox which is my main browser.

Because so many responses have been posted on this thread before I had a chance to reply even once, it has been continually bumped up to the top. I've mentioned before that I process posts in the order received - or from the bottom upward.

Please try to let me see and respond to a post at least once before jumping in.

Hi Patty,

There are ongoing problems with the Weeks search on the Points site. We're still working to resolve them - no updates available yet.

The weeks site is experiencing heavy volumes right now, mirroring our e-mail and phone volumes. Saved links or favorites may also no longer work since the Tsunami Disaster Relief banner was added. If you experience continuing difficulties, please send an e-mail to feedback@rci.com and enter TUG in the subject line so that the Communications Team can check your account.

A couple of notes about Comcast: Comcast has started using a pop-up blocker as a part of its Internet Explorer updates. This blocker considers links with advertising banners to be pop-ups. Since RCI.com uses a banner ad along with a pop-up box, Comcast may prevent access to pages within RCI.com until our site is added to a list of trusted sites.

Comcast also offers a Security Manager to detect spyware and adware programs. This filter is often triggered even though our site does not download programs onto the user's desktop. The Security Manager also has a firewall program that may pose problems in accessing our site.

Sorry I don't have more. I'll follow up when I have something reasonably definitive.
