Sorry, Texxxxxxxxxx, but unless you are the lurker, I was the object of his ire. quote: Originally posted by buff: There are lurkers with very few posts and there are regulars here since 2000 with 450.
That info put the target squarely on my back and that made it personal. Many times I've been close to joining, but something has always made me put it off. A little dig here, a snide remark there, and now a direct frontal assault. And some still have the audacity to demand an explaination as to why we won't join. Perhaps everyone should reread this thread with a calm, open mind and ask youself if it is a welcoming invitation or something else entirely. ------------------ The trouble with vacations is that your mind leaves a week before and stays a week longer your body does. Tex - Don't let it get to you, it really is no big deal. If the "it's the principle" people don't like TUG's rules they can opt not to pay...freedom of choice.------------------ "I am" is reportedly the shortest sentence in the English language. Could it be that "I do" is the longest sentence? :-) IP: Logged |

Questions: If all the members decided not to pay dues ever again, could TUG continue on its advertising revenues ? Would mandatory membership be required ? Not sure who this should be directed to and/or who has the answers. Just food for thought.[behavior lecture deleted, please see TUG rules - Ed] Beags. Linda, Did you read both of my posts? My first one stated I joined, supporting wholeheartedly this board. It wasn't until after I joined that I told Buff it was none of his business why I hadn't joined before that. I don't think that was a "nasty" line, just the truth!IP: Logged |

Don, I think Texxxxxx may well be right. But it doesn't matter. This discussion is about TUG policies. It is not about individuals. Any comments about individuals on this thread are not welcome. I have deleted another round of personal comments. And this reminder: Anyone who posts a comment directed at another person demanding that they join TUG or explain their nonmember status can expect to see that message deleted. It is confrontational and constitutes a personal attack. It also makes extra work for the moderators, and it is not appreciated. The TUG home page contains the definitive word on this subject: "The Timeshare User's Group is open to everyone! TUG Members have access to several valuable members only features where an extra login and password are required." If anyone has a problem with this policy, send a note to Bill Rogers. But please do not badger nonmembers or lay "guilt trips" on them because they have exercised their right to access the BBS without joining. No one should have to endure any harassment as a result of their decision to enjoy this site as its owner allows them to. Ed Bott TUG BBS Administrator IP: Logged |

Maybe the distinction between TUG Member and Non Member as noted in our profile could be deleted, thus, no polarizing distinction ......... ???????? Why is it there in the first place ? What is the exact puropose except but to differentiate ? Signed, "Wondering in Boston"

Don,I guess I misread the post. I originally thought all this got started when buff's remark to me on my computer question got deleted and then he posted this thread immediately afterward. I got the impression that he had in his deleted post insisted that I pay the membership fee or get out. I never actually saw the post, that is just what I gleened from a couple of the posts here on this thread. I am sorry to find out that this has been an (obviously)ongoing topic. FWIW, I am sorry that you or any other person is precluded from existing here in cyberspace without ridicule from those who (IMHO) just don't get that there are lots of places folks can go on the web to have a conversation on just damn near anything. I was also very serious about the fact that I'm sure Bill would rather have a hundred happy non-member folks "lurking" on this board and "encourage" them to join (which I'm sure the greater numbers of them do in THEIR OWN TIME), than to have them browbeaten off the board and never have the chance to ever join while meanwhile spreading the word that TUG is not the "place to be". I have explained my reason for not joining at this time and was the prompt receiver af a personal attack. My bet is that the same folks doing the attacking have, at some point in their own history, had occasion to hold off on purchasing, joining, etc. OH-MY-GOODNESS...I just figured it out...duh. Any chance these folks attacking the non-members would not have by chance gone to a TS presentation just for some "education" and freebies (as I have read here on TUG extensively) and then "decided" not to join???? I hope they would understand how hypocritical THAT position would be. I sure those TS folks would love to use the line that a very wise person once said: "Fish or cut bait" and not caring one way or another that you just weren't ready (again for whatever reason). Enrico, thank for you for your kind words. You are obviously the type of person I was talking about wanting to be around in my last post. If you ever need any golf tips let me know!! (That goes for EVERYBODY) Tex

Well, since we can't seem to "Play nice," its time for the note to be closed. We've had plenty of time to discuss this. Unfortunately there has been too much characterization and name calling for it to continue. If you feel strongly about the issue, please email Bill Rogers, TUG's Owner.
