I need your help in developing a list of topics for Marriott timeshare “Frequently Asked Questions” which would be easily accessible to all when we convert to the new BBS software. Please post below your suggestions for topics, in addition to the following, to be covered in such an FAQ section: - 13-month reservation rule - Owner's discount when renting - Using Marriott Visa for timeshare purchases - Disadvantages of buying resale - Internal exchange priority - Trading back to home resort - priority - Value of Marriott Rewards points - Using Marriott Rewards points for timeshare stays (limitations) - Marriotts with lockoffs - Maintenance fees (link to schedule in Advice section) - Florida Club - Reservation policy (How early can I call?) - Free golf - where? - Vacation Ownership Advisor - MVCI website – link and information (generally) found there - Marriott calendars and “seasons” - Right of first refusal Please note that this is not a thread for discussing details of some of the topics or debating whether or not a particular topic belongs in the FAQs. I expect the FAQs to be a “forever” work-in-progress after we convert to the new BBS software. Some of the section might be text. Some might be links to informative threads or Advice section info.

There's one for 'Disadvantages of buying resale'. How about one for 'Advantages of buying from Marriott'? (Combined?)Resort Seasons, etc. in one easy-to-read section? Gotta go to Kauai/Maui, now. See you in a couple of weeks. IP: Logged |

Other potential topics:-Marriotts rental commission. -Resorts with the split week option. -Marriott fees for converting to points, exchange, Florida Club, etc. -Resorts with every year points conversion capability. -Pricing on new resorts, like St. Thomas and unusual closing fees, like the 5% at Grand Chateau. -Basics on Marriott's equity upgrade program. -Basics of what you can do online with Marriott vs. calling in. Which Marriotts and what time frame gets an AC from II....and what is an AC.Resorts that currently charge for parking and how much. Both of these would need to be periodically updated..... quote: Originally posted by JimC: Resorts that are adjacent to a Marriott hotel or those resorts that are not.

Dave, I see the question on unit locations and maps of the site a lot. Maybe a link for any tips, or maps of various resorts.Of course, with 50+ resorts it might become a bear to manage. -Matt IP: Logged |

I second that request. I would like to be able to access the resort layout of each Marriott property. I have been requesting this of the CCO for the last two years. We lost access to our own resort maps with the new MVCI website. [This message has been edited by DannyMc (edited 04-27-2005).] IP: Logged |

Some idea about relative trading power, realizing it is impacted by the week in the year one owns the unit.Related to the above is "reverse" trading power - ie the ability to get a week at a Marriott resort in exchange via a nonMarriott resort unit, or via a bonus certificate. Most Marriotts in Orlando can be easily obtained in exchange through one of the above mechanisms at any time of the year. I am also seeing that most Marriotts in Hilton Head SC and in Paris in the winter and shoulder seasons, are also easily available. I would guess that the Marriotts in the desert (Palm Springs and Phoenix) in the summer are also easy to obtain. IP: Logged |

The ability to rent at a MCVI resort, for a reduced rate compared to someone from the street. An option where if you want a larger unit, or more expensive unit, either at the home resort or at another MCVI resort, but you do not want to keep the original unit, you will get partial, but not full, credit for the original unit. Your request appears to be something you would like to have Marriott change. If so, that's not the purpose of this thread. Please carefully read the first sentence in this thread. If it is in fact a suggestion for something I can include in our Marriott FAQs here at TUG, please clarify for me. IP: Logged |

My statement is not meant to be a commentary, one way or other, of this policy. My statement should be put in the FAQ - for the reason that there are some timeshare developers out there who would give full credit towards the original market price, and others who would give no credit at all - and there may be some potential buyers whose decision to buy may be impacted (one way or the other) by this policy. Another point with the FAQ - which weeks of which resorts offer an accomodation certificate, when the unit is deposited with II, and which of those units can still get an a.c., after having the original split into larger and smaller lockoff components, before depositing with II.It should be mentioned that this should be correlated to a certain degree, with trading power. I understand II make data available (at least to Marriott) about the relative demand of Marriott locations/seasons. It would be helpful to know which locations/seasons have the most trading power.IP: Logged |

Unlike most other timeshare companies, Marriott allows a unit of a future year to be deposited with II, without requiring advance (of that future year) payment of the maintenance fees.IP: Logged |
