A lot of people were asking about royal holiday club recently. I noticed on a holiday group (not to be confused with RHC) ebay auction recently that on their "buy one get one free" auctions, you can get a 10,000 or 15,000 points membership for "free" as the "BOGO" offer. Of course, you still have to pay the $400 holiday group fee and the $350 transfer fee (maybe more??) to royal holiday club. (And, of course, you have to actually buy a second timeshare from holiday group - but if they have something someone may want, this could be a way to get a semi-inexpensive royal holiday club membership.)They also have the weeks memberships on the "BOGO" offer, but it sounded from recent threads like most people liked the points program better in RHC than the weeks program. By the way - this is not an ad! I have no relationship to holiday group. I was just hoping to give a heads-up to people who have recently posted about RHC. Edye ------------------

Edye,I couldn't find this on ebay. Is it a current ongoing auction? Or is it a recently closed auction? Thanks Richard

At certain times of the year, Holidaygroup "gives away' (for the fees), a second condo week (or club membership) from a selected list of resorts they post on their site. You have to buy the first unit from their enventory.I also saw the RHC unit a few days ago. On this 'giveaway' list, they also include the number of units they have for that resort or club. I saw several with 2 or 4 'like these', but I don't remember seeing any more than one for the Holiday Club. (Some of the units list as GC or 5 Star, but usually, the colors aren;t red, or the location might be so, so. If I find a link I'll post. ------------------ Ken K PS: Win a week with your TUG Winning Review submission: Award Week PIX Please click the page numbers as they present different subjects IP: Logged |

I guess all the 15000 point memberships have been taken. (I just looked at the BOGO link again.) Most of the "Buy it Now" Holiday Group auctions have this "BOGO" offer. Edye------------------

Edye & Ken,Thanks for posting the updates on the Holiday Group's offers for the Royal Holiday Club. My question to you is that when I went to the Timeshare listings on the EBay website - I could not find the Holiday Group's offer. When I went to the Holiday Group's home web page & did a search of their site - I also couldn't locate the offer. Ken, I did go to the link you posted and read about their offer but I'm wondering why I wasn't able to locate the offer on my own. If it wasnt' for your & Edye's post, I wouldn't be aware that the offer existed. What am I missing? Thanks Richard IP: Logged |

I own 30,000 points with the RHC (www.royal-holiday.com). I would love to talk with someone else who is also a points member of RHC and see what locations they have gone to and which ones they have liked. I could give some good input if they have any questions also. I thought that I could pick a resort that is also a part of the RCI weeks system and call RHC and asked them to deposit one of these weeks into my weeks RCI account. Then I had planned to call RCI and have them convert this week into my ponits account. When I called RHC, I had picked several resorts that were worth high point value for RCI during the time period that I requested. RHC informed me that they will not let a RHC member request the week that they want put into their RCI account. They said that the week that is put into our RCI week account is all done by computer and I would not find out what week I got until I called RCI. I was shocked b/c of course, my system did not work and the point conversion would normally not be worth the week that I had picked out. Has anyone else tried to do deposit their points back to RHC so that they would deposit a week into RCI - most people do this if they can not use all of their points for the year and they do not want to lose them. Would love to discuss with other RHC members. Thanks, JoyIP: Logged |

Richard, I just happened to look at a holiday group auction, and noticed the BOGO offer on the auction. Most of the Holiday Group "Buy it Now" auctions have this offer. If you find any Holiday auctions, look for the "Buy one get one free" offer in the auction ad itself. I don't think it's advertised anywhere else except in Holiday's auctions.Hope that clarifies everything. ?? Edye ------------------

Don't discount the weeks based program. It's not flexible with regard to weekend travel, but for staight weeks-based travel:Ambassador Unit -- weeks based "high season" membership can travel every week of the year except for 51, 52, and the weeks before and after Easter Rome(Studio sleeps 4 at the Mayfair Residence/Spanish Steps 34200 points most of the year 37999 points July, August, 51, 52 London (2-BR at the Allen House) 20842 points most of the year 32846 points July, August, 51, 52 Aruba (1-BR at Paradise Beach Villas 25001 points most of the year 34999 points Dec 16-31, Jan - April 15 10000-15000 points isn't enough for those who want a full week of travel.

RHC is not good for that. But, it is great as a weeks deposit. They told me that the way the week is picked is that RCI is given the choice of all the units you can book with your points, and RCI picks the week it wants most. Therefore, the week that is deposited will have the highest possible trade power in the RCI weeks system. But it will not take the technical aspects of RCI points conversion into account. In my case, they deposited a New Year's Studio at Park Royal Cozumel, which I traded into Amsterdam for this summer. ------------------ Those are my principles. When you use the link and see which ones you can get free with a purchase you only see five resorts but it is also only page one of five pages...it is about page three is where the RHC comes up.------------------ Visit My Web Site IP: Logged |

I think it might be offered with any T/S purchase. Even if you look at the full avail lists on the www.holidaygroup.com I think they will 'let you have' one of those weeks for the additional closing.....remember...they probably are just OK weeks.... or maybe worse. I didn't look at all, maybe there are some RHC weeks or points. Some places do have a 5 star or GC symbol....but the corresponding week or float may be terrible. And check the maint & taxes.Steve (Hoc) does comment that the RHC doesn't seem to have the most responsive management people to help...but if you learn the system...it might be great. ------------------ Ken K PS: Win a week with your TUG Winning Review submission: Award Week PIX Please click the page numbers as they present different subjects IP: Logged |

Mary; Hilidays lists keep changing....I have seen some OK (maybe better) resorts listed for closing only...but who knows what they will offer next/ And do you want to buy a resort just to get an so so one 'free' (for closing?). On TUG and the RCI BBS, I believe there was a listing of the mandatory RCI AI resorts posted by Madge. But some Holiday Clubs might also contract use in non-T/S resorts, as well. Don't know where a listing for RHC sales might be. HAve seen some on TUG classified (maybe overpriced??). ------------------ Ken K PS: Win a week with your TUG Winning Review submission: Award Week PIX Please click the page numbers as they present different subjects IP: Logged |

Your dilemma is an interesting one and is more than a cursory read for me. Please keep me posted on developments in this particular reserve-deposit-exchange scenario (RDE). If I receive any information or conjure up some clever way to maximize returns on this RDE scene I'll keep you and other TUGgers posted. ------------------ "Stop me before I buy again!" IP: Logged |

I am in Madrid now, and I like the resort a lot. I would give it an 8. I will post a review when I get back, including a fairly extensive review of Madrid, since there is no other TUG review of the area. I really wish that you would post reviews of the resorts where you stayed on TUG, as it´s hard to find reviews of RHC timeshares. But, I´d also be glad to exchange any info. ------------------ Those are my principles. And if you don't like them, well, I have others. IP: Logged |
