I am begging for help on another post: http://www.tug1.net/tugbbs1/Forum9/HTML/003444.html

Basically RCI Points has a horrible glitch in its operations, and RCI Points doesn’t give a damn!

Can anyone here offer advice?

Just got another eMail from RCI SA. They are feeling sorry for me, I am not alone – there are major problems with RCI Points and they basically told me to contact RCI Points.

Gee, why didn’t I think of that?

Yesterday I spent 30 minutes on the phone with RCI Points and they came back with a joyful answer:
“It’s not our problem”. They had a meeting with some department heads while I was on hold and they decided that it just isn’t their problem – they were happy to say the least.

Of course its RCI Points problem – they created the problem and refuse to fix it.

My only course of action left is to sell our SA weeks.

Since I started the process of depositing our 4 SA weeks into our RCI Points account I have spent $38 in phone calls (all were faxes) and 6 hours on the phone or writing eMails to a dozen individuals and organizations.

This is how to run a company?

Again I state “RCI Points is a joke”.

Just talked (another 30 minutes down the drain) with RCI Points – got a fax number 317-805-9335 where I must put all this in writing for anyone else to review the problem.

Here is what the RCI Points guy said:
“It’s not our problem!”
“RCI Points takes the space banked weeks and asks the resorts to give the ok to deposit the points”
“The SA resorts have a new policy where they will NOT deposit points until Jan 1, 2005”

So what about the poor folks who have a space banked week in the first 9 – 12 weeks of 2005? They lose their points.

Of course both resorts are ready, willing, and able to deposit the points – they say its RCI Points USA that is dragging its heels with SA timeshares!

Now this is such a cover up on RCI Points part that it makes me just laugh.

I will spend another 30 minutes writing a letter to fax and see if some higher up person at RCI Points has a different story.

Again I say “RCI Points is a Joke”.

PerryM,

It doesn't "mess things up" to deposit your SA weeks within RCI Weeks. Sorry to hear you were told that.

However, the problems is not with RCI Points. This is something that happens whether you're depositing for Points or Weeks. It pertains to the resort's deposit verification process. If your resort isn't authorizing any deposits for 2005, RCI simply cannot accept them. If we were to add them to your account, and then assign guests to them, the resorts could deny our guests occupancy.

Whenever you feel really stuck with an issue, send an e-mail to feedback@rci.com and enter TUG in the subject line. The Communications Team can liaise with our SA office to try and get more information for you - even if they don't ultimately get a different answer.

Madge,

Is this the policy of The Seapointer and The Peninsula? They say they don't have such a policy - RCI Points say they do.

Who is right?

PerryM,

I responded to the verification process for 2005 South Africa deposits in this thread. I am not aware of any special restrictions.

Herb helped us deposit our 2005 SA points!

Thank you Herb at http://www.timesharespecials.com for taking the time to straighten this mess out.

But to recap; RCI Points is telling a “Fairytale” when it says it could not deposit 2005 points because the resorts have some new secret policy of not allowing points to be deposited unit Jan 1, of each year.

I was told this “Fairytale” 5 times by 5 different folks at RCI Points.

Both resorts have no such policy.

So what is really going on in the bowels of RCI Points?

Perry,

What did you do to solve the problem?

Re: the Fairytale, I am amazed that everyone got it the same. This is effective training.

BB,

I could not deposit the points with 2 months of trying; somehow Herb did.

There is something fishy going on at RCI Points - it's not above board. I have no idea what it is but too many folks had the same lame fairytale story - the exact same story.

Maybe someday we'll find out.

But one guy did say that RCI Points was sick and tired of SA accounts that had millions and millions of RCI Points in them. He said they did not like "200 dollar timeshares" generating all those points.

He further said that RCI Points did not want SA points deposited until the year of usage. Now this is stupid since they demand 90 days advance deposit thus rendering the first 12 weeks of the year unable to deposit in RCI Points. This is a half baked scheme which seems to fit into RCI Points way of looking at the world.

Edited to remove comments...wrong place to post.

I've moved my comments/questions to the Points board.

Is there an unanswered question for Madge in here somewhere? Otherwise I will move this thread to Exchanging.
