Also, today I saw what I have been waiting for for January, 2007, which I have been watching for daily for just three months. I called to check the unit number and then accepted it.

That wasn't too bad, but now what's a guy to do, having the next two years booked?

Like always, keep looking anyway, just to see.

Oh yeah, a quirky thing about this transaction. When I called a guide to see what unit number was available, he could not see it until I actually put it on Hold online, paying for it, etc. When he told me the unit number, and it was OK, he went ahead and confirmed it.

If you are thinking one step ahead, you know I am going to say that online it still said the unit was on Hold and I needed to call to confirm it, even though that had just been done. I called another guide and she confirmed it had been confirmed.

However, it did not say that online until I logged out and loggged back in.

This is after two guides have said it is already confirmed and it is already showing as confirmed online.

Since it was not confirmed online, but by a guide, I assume I will not get a confirmation by email, but by regular mail.

So, there are conflicts between online and live transactions.

Both December searches show a few of the better resorts I use to see occasionally for January. In total, I have seen any of the better resorts only three times for January, '06 (in 15 months of daily searching), and none, yet, for January, '07 (in 3 months of daily searching).

PS--It is getting time for me to self-prune this thread, to make more space for others, and so that it will operate better.

I do this periodically by summarizing the information from the beginning of my recordings (3/27/02) to date. Of necessity, that will drop out more than 100 posts. Mosts of those are repetitive or time-sensitive and will not be missed.

However, for those of you who have followed this, if there is anything particular in this thread that you would like for me include in my new OP, Copy and Paste it in an email to me.

Those are good questions and ones I would ask me if I didn't already know.

We would go in January, but, then, folks are creatures of habit and we have always gone in January. There are a lot of other folks that are creatures of the same habit. They are called snowbirds and flock to SW Florida from around the globe January through April.

Although this seems innocent enough, and it is something that I use to share openly, there is a conflict.

My opinions and TUG Ratings are virtually identical, that's how easy it is to rank the better from the lesser in SW Florida. Anyone familiar with SW Florida resorts knows what I am saying.

The rub is that TUG ratings are a "members-only" feature, so by revealing my favorites on an open forum I would be pretty close to violating that sacred privilege of membership.

If I remember, the Florida Ratings are organized for the entire state and if I were to organize the SW Florida ones and rank them (which I have), and then posted the top however many, I would not disagree with it, much.

I also have a list of SW Florida Gold Crowns and SW Florida HGVC resorts.

Additionally, Jenny and I have our favorite lesser resorts, because we are not as picky as some and find that some settle-fors are quite nice, in their own way. Some make up for lack of glitter with abundance of substance. (More steak, less sizzle)

From a purely selfish point of view, if you will read my preceding post, you will see that in 15 months of searching I only saw three of the better resorts for the timeframe we like to go and I have to search daily (and that really means every day) for many, many days, any more, to get what we want.

If I were to announce and target specific resorts during a specific timeframe, on the Internet, for gazillions to see, I might have to explain to Jenny why we no longer can go to SW Florida in January.

And I do not want to do that.

However, you are welcome to join our little SW Florida email club, where I am less stingy.

If you don't like Eagle's Nest, I would hate to try to please you. It is a big place. If you like smaller, Club Regency is next door. Charter Club and Surf Club are nearby.

When you're there you might want to take a half-day and go over to the Everglades Park Headquarters in Everglades City. It's a nice little alligatory drive over and back.

From the park headquarters you can take a 90-minute boat tour of the estuary region on the Manatee II. When that's over, pick up your fresh stone crab claws, shrimp, and fish at City Seafood on Begonia Street in Everglades City.

If you golf you will probably have to go off-island. I normally find a decent course in the Naples, Bonita Springs or Estero area on www.efloridagolf.com. Look under specials for 4-round discount passes.

We will be heading home the 21st, but, what the heck, I could send Jenny home to take care of the cats and stay and be your driverboy and Activities Director.

It is simply an example of the elementary crap they try to feed their members.

I would speculate that no one at RCI knows this particular search, using my weeks, better than me. Have any of them made the same search virtually every day since RCI.com began, and documented the results since March 27, 2002?

They make it sound like everything is in a constant state of flux, bouncing up and down, being re-evaluated, when I can show through more than a thousand consecutive searches that that is simply hogwash. It does not, and never has, worked that way.

It reminds me of my direct sales days when our mantra was, "If you can't dazzle them with brillance, baffle them with --------."
