[Original thread subject was "Pointsweek Giveaway Contest" -- mg]Win a FREE week. This time a Pointsweek* will be awarded. After the Bonus Week given away by WONKA, several expressed that it would be nice to have contests for the fun of it. So here goes another. Hopefully other contests will follow. This is to be a FUN thing, generating interest for ALL that read the boards, NON-members as well. I wish everyone to become involved for lots of interesting reading. Please spread the word around the other boards, as I can't double post. Let the postings begin. Chose from the SUGGESTIONS list, restrict yourself to 100 words, and post those amusing and/or interesting entries. SUGGESTIONS: 1. Funny Saying or Chuckle. 2. Favorite timeshare memory. 3. Limerick. 4. Why contestant deserves to "win" the Pointsweek. 5. Predict the SuperBowl participants, winner, loser and score. Explanations of what SuperBowl is may be included. 6. KIDS write (or littler ones could dictate to their parents) stories from their timeshare vacation experiences. 7. Guess the date for BBS post number, or member number 10,000. 8. Timeshare stories, good or bad. 9. Life’s embarrassing moments. 10. Worst exchanges experience or travel time. (One member thought the "worst timeshare " would be interesting, if not funny in hindsight.) 11. Essay on how one spouse would try to convince the other that T/S is a 'good' way to vacation. POST AS OFTEN AS YOU LIKE. Talk to one another, kick things around a bit. I’m relying on everyone to keep it interesting. Everyone posting has the same chance. I will place into a box the name of each individual posting entries on this tread. You don’t have to originate; you will be included for replying. Each name will be entered only once. The winner will be picked at random from these names. NEWBEES, this is your chance. The prize will be one of my Pointsweeks from the RCI space bank. The winner’s resort and time frame choices will be taken into consideration. So, you may get to go where and when you like. As always, this depends on availability. The contest will end with this month. Unless something happens to Caroll and me, the winning Pointsweek may be taken whenever you wish within limits of availability. I'll place a 2002 limit, just so it won't drag on forever. I’ll take entries until midnight 30 November 2001. That is three full weeks. So post away and don’t forget to use the SUGGESTIONS list. *I coin Pointsweeks as a time-share week secured by points. [This message has been edited by Beebe (edited 11-12-2001).]

O.k., so I'm intimidated by the prodigious writing talents on this Board, but I figure if some dolt (I volunteer) breaks the ice it will get easier for others. And if not, then hey, I'll win :-) A (bad) limerick...
There once was a Pointsweek contender Who dreamt of where **winning** might send her. Then she read the TUG Lounge, Where great writing she found. Now she just hopes a VC befriends her. Hey - my name's in the hat, and my fingers and toes are crossed: -)

A chuckle, and I defer on the prize since Keith so kindly gave me a week near my home on a Canada board earlieras a prize. In fact if I were to be chosen, Keith gets it.Two simple sort of guys are out hunting when one of them grabs his chest and falls to the ground. His buddy immediately calls 911 on his cell phone and says, "Help me, help me, my buddy is dead, he's not breathing and he's dead!". The 911 Operator says, "Now sir, you need to relax and listen to me. If you're going to help your friend, you need to listen to me and help me. First, lets make sure your friend is really dead." There's no repsonse at the other end and then a gunshot is heard. The man comes back on the line and says, "OK, now what?"

I've been timesharing just a short time but still I'm attempting this rhyme, to give some advice so you won't pay the price of hearing things from the grapevine!Sellers abound as you've heard Some are crooks; some are true to their word Just make sure you don't buy from that slick dentist guy (A root canal would be preferred!) Once you have found the right buy, you can finally smile and sigh Enjoy your first trip, but when you take a dip... Hope you don't see that pool-peeing guy!! Sharon

My favorite light bulb joke, although it works much better in person.A: How many Teamsters does it take to screw in a lightbulb? B: I give up, how many Teamsters does it take to screw in a lightbulb? A: Eleven. Long pause. A: (In a threatening voice) You got a problem with that?!? ------------------ Phil

Thank you Kris. I see you were thinking, "Hey what is with these people." I sure was. I appreciate you putting Pointsweek in there. I never knew what to call deposits secured by points so thought I'd make a term. I hope to see it used and understood thoughout timeshare land. krisj is in the box.

Phil, In Newport News, Civil Service people used to take 12, one GS3 to insert the bulb, 4 GS7s to turn the ladder, 3 GS12 engineering types to figure which direction to rotate the ladder, 1 GS13 to inspect the problem after two hours of mission failure, 3 more GS12 engineering types to figure which direction to try next. I say used to because with downsizing and contracting out, bulbs don’t get changed. Everyone is “in the dark”.

Where is everyone? Maybe each of you needs to make an announcement on another board. I was hoping the word would spread to non-members, to get them to sign up. Maybe I should have restricted the winner to members.

Beebe, They left me out of the loop when they handed out good wit, so I don't have anything creative to add, but I wanted to tell you that I like your idea and want to keep the thread going. Connie

OK...Here it goes... I'm all alone in this house of men, the only one, the only femme.
I try real hard to keep my wit, to keep me sane, to keep me fit. To not fall in, in the midnight hour, with the seat left up, on the porcelain tower. To keep my cool when they're bouncing high, I just walk away, and then I sigh. To think for four is no easy task, and so I look for times to basque. The summer sun does wonders for me, and then again I love to ski! Even the dog is male you see, and so I NEED a place to flee! ------------------ Esther ------------------------- Marriott's Beach Place Towers 2 bdrm,wk 52 Platinum; Protea Kruger Gate Karos Lodge-SA,2.5 bdrm wk 10;Sunburst Condominium, 3 bdrm,wk 48

Beebe,Every entrant so far is a TUG member, so you could restrict if you liked. Better yet, restrict it to those that have already entered! As a Fed I like your light bulb joke. And here I thought we contracted them out on a cost-plus basis. ------------------ Phil

Phil Anderson, I sorta think that way but when wrestling with rules I wanted to make it easy for everyone to participate. I didn't want newbies to be afraid, etc. I can't believe everyone reads all posts. I sure don't. I skim along and pick something I think may be of interest. Apparently the regulars haven't looked yet either. Someone will get an RCI week or possibly some Fairfield nights if they prefer. That was not the reason for starting this thing. This was to be a FUN thing, generating interest for all that read the boards. I'm hopeful those NON-members might jump to joining. So I didn't want them excluded. Let's see if we can get more participation. Please spread the word around the other boards. Post something to entice others to check out this board and thread. Six or seven submitting was not my goal. [This message has been edited by Beebe (edited 11-12-2001).]

Is this the board where the other week was given away? Maybe you should post this on more than one board? I know that is frowned upon, but this is a good cause (especially if I win!).------------------ Phil

Neat rhyme. I know this won't come as a welcome note, but I have wondered for years what the little lid is for. If everyone closed both lids, no one would fall in. No one seems to like that idea at my house, so the next thing is, everyone put all lids up. The idea is to create habit for the benefit of the misfortunate. Chivalry at midnight, don't bet on it.

My favorite timeshare memory is my week in Myrtle Beach at Presidential Villas. It's my favorite because...at this point in time, it's my ONLY timeshare memory. Last month's vacation was my first exchange using my SA week. It was lots of fun and very much needed. I am hoping that it was the just the beginning of many great vacations to come. Thanks for the opportunity to win the week!! ------------------ Miracles abound when you are open to the possibilities! Catharine
