This past year I acquired a few S. African weeks in addition to our Orange Lake. As I was patting myself on the back at finally--after 9 years--figuring out the RCI system to get decent trades ... this SPCA mutt grabbed our hearts this summer and is now firmly ensconced in our family. So, a question for all you pet lovers: is it possible to timeshare with Fido, or is that pet icon on page 11 of the RCI directory merely a figment of my imagination?

All silverleaf's allow pets for a small price $10 - 25 for the week. Far less than the kennel.

They have OK resorts, 1 or 2 GC, 2 or 3 RID, and the rest unrated. They are mostly located in the plains, ozarks, texas area.

We have taken our dog there for vacation once, the one called Silverleaf Hill Country Resort, located near New Braufels, Texas. We liked it, and the dog had a good time. She got lots of attention, lots of time to swim in the lake, and lots of walks. We are going back over New Years to the same location and are taking the dog again.

They are the only chain of resorts that I know that take pets. There are a few others, but few and far between. There is one in Ontario, Canada, a nice GC resort called Law Cranberry. They also take pets. So there are some out there but hart to find.

Fellow Dog Lover......who feels guilty leaving the dog in the kennel all the time.

Although it's not a timeshare site, you may find some interesting info at the following site. I know what it's like to leave my best pal behind and take off for 4 weeks of timesharing! Breaks your heart.

We travel alot and have found a wonderful place in Sacramento that not only boards our dog but trains him too. The trainer, Connie, just loved our puppy from the start. He got to be her class "pet". It cost a little more but it was worth it as he is so well mannered when we return. They both kinda bonded with each other, so when we take him there he is so happy to see her. Makes it eaiser to say goodby

With animals, because the t/s resorts are so limited, it is so important to have a good rapore with the caretakers/trainers instead of stressing over leaving them and missing out.

Lisa,
Last year we got a black lab puppy. We took a few week long vacations and put her in a kennel, which she hated so much that when she returned home, she sheds, forgot her house-training skills, and appeared to be emotionally traumatized. Now we try to take her with us, if possible. We have several trips next year that are too far away to bring her, and\or are not at dog friendly resorts and will have to board her. We'll be flying out of sacramento airport, and would like to know the name of the boarder\trainer that you use. It soundsjust right for us!
thanks
ps
here's some more pet friendly websites
yahoo has a pet travel and leisire webring w\lots of sites
pets allowed is my favorite (sorry can't find the address)

Interesting! So they do exist, and the resorts are not necessarily "dogs" either. I'm near Buffalo NY, which is within a 2-hr. drive of Law Cranberry, so it looks like only a matter of time before visiting this one with Sandy Paws. Wouldn't want to fly her anywhere ... we've been to the Outer Banks which would be so much fun with the dog, but no places here, eh?
Lisa, Sandy & I took obedience classes this summer. The trainer told us he rarely has problems with dogs--it's really the PEOPLE, not the dogs, that he trains! I think I'm a better parent to my child after graduating from Doggie Obedience School...

Kohl's Ranch in Arizona allows Dogs and horses. They have a dog Kennel that you are supposed to put them in at night or when you leave but it seems most people kept them in their cabins or on the porches. Don't know how hard they police it. They also have 2 small pipe corrals for horses. Not sure if they charge for them.

Inn at Silvercreek, near Winter Park, Colorado allows pets. But you cannot take them into Rocky Mt. National Park except on one trail. There are lots of other trails outside and around Rocky however.
